Message: I don't know what it is about this market. I don't come here that often, though it's been around forever, at least since I was a kid. When I stopped in midweek for cold drink, I lingered a bit while deciding. Everyone who came through the door after me apparently knew the clerk. "Knew" with a more intimate inflection than casual.. and he knew them back. It wasn't just his advanced age that seemed to drive the exchange. The customers were genuinely concerned for his health and good fortune, and he was warm and open with his responses. This store is clearly a safe crossroads of neighbors and merchant. I now go out of my way to habit the store, hoping to learn some names.
